Annual spring festival in the park is themed around disaster relief for recent earthquake in north eastern part of Japan. Many Japanese performances and activity tents were arranged along with different food vendors under the full bloom of cherry blossom trees. IchiFuji-kai performed Sakura Matsuri with Furidashi-gasa Genroku Hanami Odori with the original prinsess and yakko dance in between.

Eight students of Japanese club participated in the workshop for the second time. They learned a song of Hinamatsuri for Japanese traditional girl's day on March 3rd, as well as advanced techniques of using a dance fan in Japanese classical dance demonstration. They tried a female style dance number ShichiFukujin and learned how to use a dance fan.

Eight 2nd and 4th grade students attended to the specially arranged Japanese cultural workshop, in which they learned Sakura Sakura, the most representative old song of the country, for both singing and dancing. They also watched dance demonstrations to compare male and female styles and learned how to hold a dance fan.

The 65th anniversary of commemorating the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. The ceremony opens at NY Buddhist Church to light candles at exact moment of bombing on August 6th (JST), followed by the Silent Peace Walk to the Church of St. Paul and St. Andrew where Japanese classical dance and other performances are offered after the procession of panels.

A lighthearted evening devoted to explore Japanese classical dance and its props. Dancers often hold their objects in their hands while dancing. The most oftern used is the fan, but there are a lot of other props, such as flowers on sticks, umbrellas, masks and hand puppets. There wil be a delightful running commentrary with demonstrations, and time for questions for the audience. This event is organized by Northport Arts Coalition.

IchiFuji-kai's full-length concert program co-produced by Graduate Theatre Club and sponsored by Undergraduate Student Activity Fund. Program features many recently choreographed dances by the grandmasters of Soke Fujima-ryu as well as the old favorite Kabuki dance pieces. Some dances are presented as "full costumes" - decorative costumes, a wig and traditional makeups, and others are in formal "suodori" style. Commentary for each dance is also provided to help the audience to understand the meaning of choreography or story of the dance.
